Straight pull Steyr. Every since I first saw one in Cabela's a few years back they have intrigued me. Yesterday I was in a gunshop and they had one for $129 so I bought it. Don't have it home yet because my FFLs never go through, have to do the waiting game. Caliber is most likely 8x62R, I didn't know shit about them until I got home and got on the net. Earlier model might be an 8x50R. Shoots a 205 grain bullet and kicks like a mule I guess. Stripper clips, called en bloc, must be used as they are actually part of the magazine and when the last round is chambered the clip falls out the bottom.
Part of my continuing fascination with milsurp guns. I almost bought a Mosin Nagant last spring when Cabela's had a shit load of them, next batch comes in I think I will get a nice one. Also passed up a chance to own a couple Jap Arisaka last year. Another fine old WW2 vintage gun that are cheap as hell right now.

The cool part is that you just pull straight back on the bolt, then shove it ahead to chamber a round. The locking lugs rotate somehow.
    Here's a link with a couple pictures

I didn't get a Mosin yet but I plan to. The $99 deals are gone, plan to pay a buck and a half nowdays.

Well hell... that's what those 2 straighpulls that I have are! Just looked at that link and am deciphering just what I have... both have an "S" on the barrel just ahead of the magazine. S/N of 1387 on one, and 8022 on the other.
I don't have any magazines though...
Just what I need...buy more stuff! haha

I think the S means they are the later 8x56 and not the earlier 8x50. Those clips run $5-$8 each unless you find them with the ammo. I guess there was a bunch of cheap milsurp ammo around a few years back but has mostly dried up. Hornady has it for around $28 a box.

Yah, not sure on the ammo. I watched those videos and it looks like it bites a bit... who knows if I'll ever shoot it.... it didn't look like it was all that bad, but since I broke my shoulder, I'm kinda picky about what I do to it...but then again, just knowing what they are and that they'd be something kinda fun to shoot... Suspect Might have to "slip one in" there sometime! haha
I'll get some pics of ours.... we need to give everything the yearly shot of oil and clean anyway.
