    suggestions please

the motivation behind the question is this--i am gonna ditch the dual carbs and elec. fuel pump, along with the tank system on this honda v twin

the only experience i have is with the old 45 and honestly, that was so long ago i barely remember--i don't even know who all makes hd carbs - cv, amal, mikuni are the ones i know of.

there are plenty available in the used market of each brand

    anyway, any info is good

My Snortster had a Bendix on it... it was bone simple and worked ok. I went to one of the CV carbs off a later Evo and finally back to an S&S, which is what's on it now... gotta love the S&S!
I think I've got a couple of the Bendix (Zenith) laying around if ya wanna try one...

i found an s&s super b with air cleaner for the right price--it's not such a crazy idea as honda did a similar setup on later models---seems like s&s is the field favorite all the way around

I don't think you can even get parts for a B series anymore.

John--much appreciated--have come to my senses--what little i have left--it's a case of planned obsolescence--no new ignition parts and no way to retrofit--gonna ad it to the spring closeout sale---time to forget about old fossil fuel burners, unless they use points--just another in long string of bad choices on my part--maybe i'll get it right in the next go round lol!

Hey JD was this the one you were trying to refit the ignition on?

What model was that one again if it was?

spart--the mdl is honda vt750c--cdi ignition type--my understanding is it is a "true" cdi--2 cdi boxes--the way the schematics read both boxes are used to fire each twin plug cylinder at the proper time--the pulse or impulse generator modules are not available--the spark signal could be handled by a gm hei module, but there would be no spark advance, which is internal in the cdi boxes--the term "mdl specific" is the curse of death--similar mdls of the same year use a box that looks identical but functions entirely different--100% planned curse of death--all motorcycle manufacturers have done the same thing--including HD--the aftermarket has been the savior for some but not all--it boils down to my mistake for jumping on the deal--i will be able to recover my dollars, but that's about it--or part it out and use the front to make a trike powered by a front wheel drive car unit and maybe make a small profit--either way it's not a big money maker and it falls under the want category rather than the need

    update/revisited

well, i must say i have a very good partner/caretaker----she said don't sell the bike--spend the money and do what ya planned

it just really burns me how these manufacturers have orphaned perfectly good designs and machinery

so i am in contact with the czech republic to acquired a matched set of electronics for the ignition--dual cdi boxes and rectifier-i intended to get the pickups, but he needs pics of the actual units and they are buried under a 1/2 days dis-assembly--so i will for go those at this time

the bike will never be worth a great deal, but it makes me feel good to have it to tinker with--go figure

so mr john, i am on for the bendix--i sent some info via email--the star address--that part of the project really gets me going---frankendunnstien they call me preferred HD carb 301330

and the best news is that the old shoulder is beginning to come around--man--what a pain

    that's all Very Happy

Damn man you got a good woman there!!

I wonder how many perfectly good bikes were sent to the scrap heap because of the same reason?

I would love to get ahold of an old Honda etc and ride it, I think I know why I cant seem to find em round here.

Dont need or want to spend thousands of bux on a starter bike ya know.
