Well, it doesn't need to be a gooseneck, but if I was buying a new 2 horse, I'd much prefer to pull that than any bumper pull out there!

    It is what it is.

Although Ive never towed a gooseneck yet.

All bumper pull stuff, including a open top horse trailer that we would haul about 15 head of 7-800 lb cattle to the sale barn with.

5th wheel or gooseneck--same principle --imagine driving a tractor/trailer rig---think mobile home movers--with the pull weight behind your drivers(axle)

    or

tie a concrete block to a rope and fasten it to your belt loop and take off walking(bumper pull)

    then

tie the loop around your waist and take off walking(5th wheel)

The biggest advantage to a gooseneck is that they're much LESS squirrley. They don't try to "wag" like a tail all the time on ya. Other than that, they put the weight where it should be and keep your tow rig a bit more stable. The disadvantage is that they take a bit more room to swing for corners.

Depends on the trailer, lots of those goose necks hammer the crap out of ya, kind of a for and aft sort of jolt more than up and down. I have pulled a lot of bumper pulls that you couldn't even tell were back there but they are much less forgiving about the weight balance. Those 2 horse bumper pulls are just too short coupled, extend the hitch a couple feet and it tames them down considerably.
