bolo---holley 1904

if anyone has 1 i want to buy it

have done sum readin' and i just by gawd like holleys

looks like some others like'm 2 cuz they are a bit pricey

other than that all is well

don't know what a bolo 1904 is.
I have a stuck 1958 223 with a glass bowl holley single on it.

got my hook in one(mdl 1920) on e buy at 25 and 13 for the ride---the 1904,1920, 1940 and one i can't recall are pretty much the same--jb--that glass bowl one seems to be kinda special--i found a good page that tells what the applications were/are--seems like this 1 bbl holley was most prevalent on the mopars then ihc's and some late 50's fords

Hey JD, I found a little stubby Holley single in my carb junk but can't find a model number. It has a manual choke but a piece of the fast idle linkage is missing.

i have a 1920 on the way--paltry sum of 35 delivered--parts and pieces of the old carbs are selling for more according to the ads and web pages i have found

hey--jb---if you can find "any" numbers on that carb, try putting them in the search box on the mike's page--those id #'s are another source of confusion in the automotive world---just another attempt to annoy the living shit outta people

i have an old yf that only has the number 1956 cast into the bowl and also has some hand stamped numbers on the base plate--mike's did turn up the 1956 but not the hand stamped numbers--none of the local parts stores could make an id although i knew for sure it was a yf and not a yfa

I hate working on YFs and don't generally save them but I think I might have a couple in the 50-60 carbs I've hoarded

i think the trick on the yf is setting the screw/nut on the "metering rod"--was watching a video and the guy was showing the correct setting procedure--the last step was going a full turn past initial contact---the reason for the quotes on metering rod is because it is a pin plugging a hole, rather that a "length of stroke" device--which has always been my concept of metering rods--that might be my problem--concept---either way just like the calvary--forty years too late

the holley came yesterday--looks really good--was tempted to give it a wd40 bath and cross my fingers, but it has been shelved so long there is not the faintest gas aroma-kit is 30.00- 10 of which is shipping--trying to do all i/we can to support our local businesses -- went thru napa--someplace in virginia is where the kits are located--maybe woulda saved 2 bux by buying off the web

from what i c on line, all those old carbs are gaining in value, either as pieces and parts or whole


i really don't think carbs have much of a future versus teleportation but in the mean time

My problem with the YF is that slop in the pump/power valve linkage rod. Which side of the 1/4 inch of slop do you measure.

good question---i plan to see if i can find the answer soon--it really gets my goat to get beat up by such a simple looking machine part

I had one on my 72, old one fell apart and wasn't rebuildable. I was trying to buy a brand new carb and the parts store gomer talked me into buying a Holley brand rebuild, claimed the never had a problem. Normally I shy away from over the counter rebuilds because that are almost always junk. This one was no exception, worst cobble together pos carb. It took me 2 years to get it working right, just never had any accelerator squirt and fell on it's face. I cut half of a Q-jet fuel filter spring and set on top of that slop-o-matic pump rod, which sat right up against the carb top. That made the squirter work and it was great after that. But then I offered that advice on Fordsix and was told by one of the talking heads that it really didn't work because it didn't have proper power valve function with that spring in there. Good thing I was so dumb I didn't know it wasn't really running good like I thought.

i think the biggest problem with factory rebuilds is the time they sit on the shelf after the deed has been done

some of these guys have some pretty phenomenal mpg's in their signatures

this carb may be a tad small for a 300 but it looks like a jet change could remedy that

we have been lied to about everything for so long, sometimes dumb is a blessing
