Info on econolines and station wagons Empty Info on econolines and station wagons

Went to KC with the kids and rode most of it in the back of the wifes car.

Its a nice car but a bit cramped for me, and it got me thinking.

What if I were to drive an econoline van older one of course or maybe even a station wagon we might have some more room.

If it were done right it wouldnt get a whole lot worse mileage and who knows maybe get me one of those damned diesel engines I keep whinin about.

Any thing you guys can provide for info etc?

Also would consider any other makes as well.

Maybe a diesel van. Those old 6.2 chevys will get 22 mpg, maybe better. Ford also put Power Strokes in Econolines but I'm guessing maybe 17 is about average on one of those. Small econoline, 300 six or 302, high teens for milage.
I really like my Aerostar. All wheel drive, plenty of room and I have gotten 22.5 on Interstate.

i am so ready for teleportation Very Happy

any station wagon or crossover is my choice--nothing wrong with the vans except for the high profile wind resistance factor

your daily drive would suggest a diesel powered rig

Have to keep an eye out for some stuff then.

Would be cool to have an old wagon or a van just for the cool factor.

60s Fairlane wagon, 289, plenty of zip and lots of room, 20+ for milage. I had a 68 Torino GT with a 289 that would get 25 when the speed limit was 55.

    I was thinking of a 68-69 fairlane/torino wagon myself.

Fraid stuff like that might be rarer than hens teeth these days.

cool factor versus smileage Info on econolines and station wagons 301330

i like those dodge wagons for looks, but the back seats are for kids only--this old ford van is soon to be storage or camper--a 300 six was never meant to be a mileage queen--glad i got to play with one, but i think the 302 is the best bet as far as old iron goes--find a old school bus with a diesel Very Happy
