Home Traded into a 22 Hornet yesterday. It's a nice old early 50s vintage Savage 342 with a junky 70s Tasco scope. traded 2 wolf traps for it.

excellent---what's the going value of a small jaw trap--probably used for small varmits and such--i'll get a pic later--and a measurement
that hornet should keep ya smiling
saw RC had 37 at 9 am--that stuff seems to be floating this way--spart's town had 30-HTJ had 24--ya'll bundle up now

Wow...haven't even heard of a 22 Hornet for a long time! A buddy used to have one and he loved it!

Those small traps don't generally bring much around here, maybe $5 each, unless they are real old. These 2 traps were probably worth more than the gun but I only had $60 into them. One was a #14 Onieda Newhouse and it had the treble hook drag on the chain, circa 1911. Also marked property of the United States on the bottom and US on both the jaws. That rig was worth at least $250, antique store price. The second trap was the same but too rusty to read any writing on it, and no drag.

you are right on the money about my trap--preciate the info--it makes a wall hanger worth 5 to me--lol--that was a good trade imo--those hornets have some great history behind them--1 version was a survival weapon with collapsible stock--issued to bomber guys--also read that the earlier ones have less twist in the rifling than the newer ones

Military one was called an M4 or later M6. Not sure who made them, seemed to be a hodgepodge of parts. I had a neighbor who had one given to him from an air force guy, and a coffee can of ammo. I'd love to get my hands on one.
The earlier Hornets with the slower twist could only shoot about 40g bullet IIRC. Mine is the later version.

BTW, probably have another shooting stick tomorrow.Trading my brother in law out of an old Husqvarna 30-06, commercial Mauser 98 action. As good as it gets for a mauser.Plan is to re-barrel it, thinking something in a 6.5 caliber or maybe a 25-06. Don't need no cannons in this country, less buck means more shooting and better with the gun. If I had reloading gear I would go with a 6.5-06 or a 6.5-284
