The time of year I work hardest and make the least money. Garden and yard work, love it. I got an early start on 'maters this year and planted 4 in elevated raised beds today and put a plastic tent over them. Hopefully be eating 'maters before the end of July this year. Peas and beans going in this week too. Also planted 7 red currant bushes and some new lawn that is up pretty good. Been keeping the old skid steer busy landscaping and keeping my manure piles turned. Newest pile was steaming hot inside yesterday. Also got taters planted on good friday and put out another grape plant.
2 trips coming up. Sarah's graduation at the end of May and it looks like B'ville is happening this year, finally. Mark one off the bucket list. Too far to drive the rod but I'll haul it if I have to. I'll be meeting up with a good friend from Seattle.

It's kinda insane around here too... busy with calves, cows, crushers, shop projects, foals, and about anything else they can think to drop on our plate.... just that time of year. I really don't mind, as I'm not that good at just sitting around and don't party anymore...so working isn't so bad.  Busy 301330

Only 2 mares to foal here this year and one dropped a palomino stud colt yesterday. It was a couple weeks overdue and huge. Smooth Guy is the daddy, son of Frenchman's Guy. That's the campy bloodline around here now. Smoothy's yearling colts are selling for 10 grand plus. Sis and her boys are breaking 2 fillys of his now, one a full sister to the new colt.

The horse market's sure changed in the past few years....with the internet, everywhere is a world market now. We're hoping to take last year's babies to the National Clyde Sale next spring as 2 year olds, and driving.... there's a "World Clydesdale Show" in Ontario in '15, so that should boost the market a bit.
This year at the Clyde sale, a GELDING went for $60.000.00! Hell..I'd be happy with half that! hahha!!!!!

Planted 4 cherry trees today and another patch of grass. Raining right now and rain tomorrow. Looks like 50s and low 60s for the next 10 days, not much help getting the ground warm enough to plant.

I'm with yinz on the busy. Both jobs have me swimming in ailing Caterpillar engines and I'm hammering away at the house. I'm hoping to finally make it to Chattanooga this year but that is still iffy.
