flew about 300 yards east at about 500 feet northbound and then directly overhead no more than 300 ft on the southbound return

had never seen one in flight and the sound is so different (from a huey or such)due to the number of rotor blades

other than that not much in the way of cool aircraft overhead--cept for the ships that hang out just south of here

  

Used to see them flying in threes when in AK. Lots of shit in the sky there, even saw a Skycrane packing an old PBY into Anch once. Only ever heard Merlins a couple times, never forget that sound either. Lots of Beaver and Otter coming and going out of Willow, love the sound of those radials. Saw 9 Beaver setting at a shop in Willow. Not sure what that chopper the coast guard uses, orange bird with the enclosed tail rotor. Very unique sound, could always ID it before visual just by the sound. Sure do miss all that.

that's a good selection of birds--way more than i have seen live and in person--here's the dolphin of coast guard fleet--don't know if this is the one you spoke of or not
