    Texas High Patrol

I was going to my deer lease south of Abilene Sunday. 10 miles west of Eastland in I20 my truck blew a lower radiator hose around 12:30 pm. I pulled over and raised the hood with everyone blowing by me at 80+ mph. I decided I wouldn't live very long like this so I started back up and drove across the bar ditch to the service road. Much better now with 1 car/ truck every 5 min. No one stopped so I located the split in the hose and needed water to get me to the next town for help. I remembered for road service to call the number on the back of my DL so I did. The County Sherriff's office dispatcher couldn't figure out exactly where I was so she told me to call her back on 911. I did and she had my location and would send help. In 10 min. Trooper West arrived got out and looked at my hose. Asked if I needed a wrecker. I said not yet just water to get me to the next town. He said get in and carried me 5 miles to the first gas station and I bought 4 gallons of water. He asked the clerk if several people were around and she said no. He carried me back to my truck and it held 3 gallons then he asked if it would make it 10 miles back to Eastland as that was the closest open parts house. I told him I didn't know but Id try. I followed him back to a parts house and they didn't have a 06, F250 6.0 lower hose but told us the other parts house might. I followed him there and didn't have one ether but said the Breckinridge store had one 30 miles away and he didn't have a driver. Trooper West said he had a driver and for me to pay for the hose which I did. He called a fellow Trooper there and told him to pick up the hose and bring it to me. We just stood around and talked hunting and guns until my hose showed up. I thanked them both from the bottom of my heart and started the fun task of installing it in the parking lot. Total of 3 hours and I was back on the road. I have Trooper West's business card and plan to email the state of Texas, The Texas State troopers, plus his Capt. They went above and beyond their job in my book. Now whats up with this damned old Ford. A 9 year old hose with 158k miles on it. lol I'm going to change them all out now at home.

That's a much more pleasant experience than I ever had with Tejas cops.
Gates says to replace hoses every 8 years, I guess they know......
