    Craigslist Scams Empty Craigslist Scams

    Post by 71ford100 Thu Jun 09, 2011 4:33 pm

I had an email sent to me about some stuff I have listed and it doesn't seem too legit but it has a phone number and I have never seen a scam with that in it. This is the message they sent to me:

Hello there why cant u call me 518-905-0513. Sincere TC.

Thoughts? The area code is from New York!

a phone number is better than nothing---a call probably wouldn't be too risky--just don't give out any personal info until you have corresponded regarding the possible transaction by email and phone--it won't take long to flush out a scammer--it's a matter of creating a paper trail, so to speak, that will help cover you in the event of a worse case scenario

go with your gut--it's usually right

i didn't read the ad--did you put your phone number in it?? i always set it up so that the initial reply comes to email--my phone number doesn't go on the internet

it's like pre-qualifying -- and i don't put my phone number in responses to ads until the email correspondence satisfies me
