trying to increase the ram bit me in the ass--it's beyond my capabilities and has pushed my frustration level to the red alert status--between auto air conditioners, computers and the rest of the mess---i really dislike using opcs--other people's computers and vice versa

it's hard to be a spoiled brat at 54, but it's too late now--lol

the machine in question is a refurb ibm--put the new ram in and things were fine for about an hr--now i get a message about something missing --kernel 32 dll or something to that effect--and shadowing and cacheing--prob some shit the refurb bunch hid on it

    oh well--more adventures

thanks for the good wishes---mama is springing for a new box--went with a directron in house machine--with windows 7 os--doorstep delivery---504.00---comparing with name brands and other retailers it is an easy 700.00 value--barring any fatal errors or exceptions(lol) the hardware should be good for a minimum of 5 and possibly 10 yrs

so next week sometime i'll get to test the hotrod out--the old machine is repairable and well worth that--so will probably ship it to houston for repairs

too bad i can't get shipped in for repairs JD Update 301330

Which password are you talking about?

Is it on your computer to connect to the box or is the box asking for the password?

Also what model is your wi-fi router?

Did you get the Blue Screen Of Death then?

if its a kernel32.dll error, sounds like it could have been a bad memory chip, If you feel like fucking with it some more, do me a favor and write down the first 5 lines of the error code and Ill probably be able to tell you what its bitching about.

Spartman, yes its on the comp. when I try to log on wireless I have to select "Me" and when I do that it now asks for a password I put it in this thing in 07 and have no idea what it is. I know its in my admin settings someplace but I forgot how to get in that. getting about worthless is what happened here

The linksys stuff is easy as hell to reset to factory.

On the back of the router you will see a little hole between one of the antennas and the internet port.

What you need to do is press and hold that button down for 30 seconds, then while still pressing the button down, unplug the unit for 30 seconds, then while still holding that button down plug it in and hold it for 30 more seconds.

That will flush away any and all settings and return it to factory defaults.

Spartman, I did it and its the same thing when I try get on wireless. Guess I,ll have to contact linksys and ask them what my password is or how to reset it for a new password. Thanks anyway. It was worth a try.

thats weird, because thats the master reset method.

That should clear everything, and I mean everything.

When you do that, it will set the administrator login password back to default.

The login should be admin and the password should be admin.

Not giving away any secrets here. Its widely known.

Spartman, The third try got it to reset. I tried to log on and the same thing happened except I no longer had a secured wifi spot to log on to. Then I found the linksys original disc and ran it to set up a new secure wifi spot. After all that with it hard wired it was time to try it wireless. Now it says my radio is not comimg on. I guess that is what happened to begin with. Anyone know wtf I need to get to replace it on a Compaq Presario C571NR? Thanks guys I'm going to the lake and alcohol might be involved.

If thats a laptop those cards could be built in.

On some HP computers they were separate, but you could only use certain brands.

What is the model version, part number and serial number of the unit.

It should be on a white tag on the bottom of the laptop.

Compaq shows parts available for your laptop, but I need to know what model etc it is.

If you just search for Compaq Presario C571NR it asks what version.
