I just scored a 1982 Dastun, Nissan, diesel pickup. Drivetrain is great with only 132 thou but it wonked a deer so the front end is rough. I'm not sure what the hell to do with it, lots of ideas. First thing I will probably try and flip it for money to buy another gun since I had to trade one for it. Traded an old JC Higgins 22 semi-auto pistol that I never used. $150 gun at best and the greae burner should be worth $400-$500 easy. Maybe enough to get me a new 6.5x55 Howa

Re: Grease burner
That one gets to much thinking going on here. A diesel bump? My nephew just sold my 280 Browning A Bolt and a Ruger single six I had. He lives up In Wichita Falls. I,ve had them forsale here for close to a year. He sold them for more than I was asking in one week. Right gun at the right place at the right time is what happened.

Re: Grease burner
This little engine wouldn't pull a bump. It's a 2.2 liter and I know the 3.3 is about 100 horse so this is probably 65. What I was thinking was strip off the body and find an old 30s or 40s pickup and use that sheet metal. Make a cheap and quick ratrod. I even thought a guy might cut out the firewall and dash and just leave all that so you had the pedals hung, wiring intact and all that. Most likely I will c-list it for 5 bills first and see if I can turn a quick buck. Sell the engine and tranny and throw in the rest of the truck.

Re: Grease burner
I keep thinking if the shit hits the fan and gas goes to 10 bux it would be nice to have a grease burner. One like this would do 90% of the driving I need to do. Parts might be a little hard to come by tho.

Re: Grease burner
Is it an isuzu engine or what?
If its the right engine I could put it in my 91 probe.
The gasser in it is only a 2.2L. Its a mazda engine so if it would bolt up.....
I know mazda made a diesel version of my 2.2 engine and from what I can find its 1) a boltin for mine, and 2) was a pretty decent little engine if you can find em.

Re: Grease burner
I have a JD 400 with a blown up engine and I was eyeballing it with the same idea. I think a guy would have to stretch it out some and figger out a place for the radiator.CJ,s 67 F100 wrote:Thats a idea JD, put that lil Nissan diesel in my JD 316, that would be a hp boost lol

Re: Grease burner
Maybe about 8 or 10 of those little radiators from liquid cooled dirt bikes and just put them where ever you have a little extra room.
I wonder what the taxable horsepower is on that little 2.2, maybe 20ish?

Re: Grease burner
Maybe this will help?
SD22
This is a 2.2L (2164 cc) straight 4 diesel engine. It produces around 61 hp @ 4000 rpm & 102ft-lbs torque @1800rpm. This is the most common SD available

Re: Grease burner
Yeah, I figured about that for brake horsepower, just curious what the taxable (tractor rating) horsepower would be,
