Hard at it. So far I have canned about about 30 quarts of tomatoes, juice and salsa. 8 quarts of chokecherry syrup. 4 more quarts of chokecherry juice to be used later, 4 quarts wild grape juice also to be used later. Frozen about 10 pints of green beans. Today I am freezing some peaches and I have about 10 gallons of tame grapes sitting in the garage. I plan to make grape juice today and also sis and I will start a batch of grape wine. The 'maters are about done but I still have 4 rows of beets to can and probably 600 pounds of potatoes to dig and the winter squash to gather in. With fresh eggs and ranch beef in the freezer, I will be setting pretty good for winter. Maybe next week I will get out and cut a couple cords of oak. I already have a cord of ash I cut last spring. Life is great.

Re: canning
I got 3 gallons of grape juice worked up. I now have a new decor to my kitchen, the purple splotch theme.
We only get good peaches once a year here and that's when the Colorado peaches come in. A nursery in Spearfish gets a truck load and when there gone, that's it.

Re: canning
a couple of items you should add to your garden--both grow well in cooler climes--asparagus and rhubarb--i can't get enough of either of them---you need a johnson city contact--tx peaches are great

Re: canning
Aparagus grows wild around here. Not on my place but out along the irrigation ditches. Rhubarb does well here too but I never started any yet, might have to do that.
I just went down to gather in my squash and the deer had been camping in there, ate all the big ones and took bites out of several more, they probably destroyed half of them. I still got my coaster wagon heaped full tho.
