Just looked out, about 4", not bad but I have to drive up north this morning. 2-3 days at the Jumpoff welding on buffalo pens. It's about 40 miles north, Harding county, almost to the arctic circle which starts at the ND border. High tomorrow is 14, hope the wind ain't blowin. Oh, well, I've worked in a lot worse, just getting to be a wuss in my golden years. I wonder if Buffalo has a buffet with seniors discount?

Re: Wintertime
Yah, we can blame the Canadians for the cold air. We're supposed to have a high of about -8 in the middle of the week...I sure hope they're wrong! It amazes me how much colder -8 is in the last few years!
At least we usually don't get the wind that you get there....I remember wintering in Fargo and Watertown....lotsa wind...they can keep that!

Re: Wintertime
I just got in, carrharts warn't enough. It was 18 below this morning and it didn't get warmer but the wind came up, just too darn cold to be out there welding. I'll probably go back Fri. and Sat. as it's supposed to get up to the low 40s

Re: Wintertime
Not conducive to good strength welds either, unless you're post-heating too. Wind just sucks....
At least it hasn't gotten as cold here as they said it would... it's only about 0. I can handle that..and it's supposed to hit 30 on Sat... maybe I can get that water line spliced then.

Re: Wintertime
-20 at 5:30am.... Glad there's no wind with it. Right now, the sun's peaking over the mountain...so that'll knock the frost off. Kate makes hot bran mash for all the horses in the evenings, and we have the one old (38 years) horse here at the house, and he gets hot mash morning and night...guess if he's survived that long, he deserves it.
Supposed to be 30 here by the weekend.....

Hay, don't blame us for the cold air; it really comes through from Alaska
It was pretty brutal around here for a while. A week ago wed some weather site had our area pegged briefly as the coldest on the planet outside antartica. By fri noon, the sixty degree swing to about 40 inspired me to throw down the roof on my old lebaron ragtop for a little while. Call me nuts, but it's all relative....

Haha, reminds me of a guy in Willow who used to drive an old flat fendered Jeep with no top all winter. I said "what the hell, I ride my snowmobile all winter and it ain't got a top or heater either, what's the difference"
