Re: Meteorite showers
Cool, thanks for the heads-up. Forecast seems reasonable for watching...

Clear as a bell here but no activity yet; 'a thousand campfires on the field of the night' as ol' Louis used to say. Actually supposed to peak on the fourth so we've got a couple more chances, John.

Yeah, I went out for about a minute at 11:30 and didn't see anything.

not here-- i recall my Dad's story of one in the early 60's--happened during deer season--said it looked like a giant sparkler

Re: Meteorite showers
Saw one when i was out in Ontario a few years ago and it was kind of like a blizzard of meteors. Do any of you guys in the south ever see northern lights? The regular kind is like a shimmering curtain but I've seen another type a couple of times that's like rays or beams coming from one particular area heading in every direction. The effect is like lying on the floor of a teepee looking up at the poles converging at the top. Kind of weird. All kinds of crazy phenomena out there...

Re: Meteorite showers
a few times, in nw ks, not the colored brilliant type i've seen in photos, more like dancing glows
my grandparents, in ne mo, always talked about seeing them
i think the atmosphere changes and the growth of night lighting have diminished the chances of seeing them any farther south
