    The hotrod Empty The hotrod

    Post by willowbilly3 Thu Mar 24, 2011 3:08 pm

I've been getting some work done on my rod. Started a few weeks ago by dunging out the garage so I could move around and find stuff.
I got the bed done and mounted except the floor.

I made the front of the bed from an old baler part

I got the trim piece made to hold the grill in the shell

another side shot, not enough room in the garage to get a shot with good perspective, the windshield looks way higher in the picture than it actually is.

Here's some pictures of the steering. This has kicked my butt, layed it down a couple years ago and now it's all designed and just needs a few welds and final assembly..

You can see in this picture where I originally had the pitman shaft coming out of the cowl, no way to get the geometry right with it that high.

I had to lower it with this bloddy contraption.

My steering arm was too short and the tire hit the drag link about 2/3 into a left turn.

with the new piece tacked on.

I also got my drivers door hung, latch installed and striker plate. It shuts real nice. I had to make everything since I built the doors and the whole body from all different shit.

The original drawing before I started. I had a Caddy engine for it then but left it behind when I lost my house. Fenders and pipes will be different and the bed isn't quite as swoopy but pretty close since I drew this maybe 7-8 years ago.

The bed was a mess when I got it. I think it was a late T or early A. I had to completely redo the top flanges, took out about 20 inches.

The top links on the rear suspension were a tie rod from a Massey combine.
