    new coil--50 bux

    new drive belt---on hand

    new reverse clutch--on hand

    new fuel pump---20 bux

1989 yr mdl 8 hp industrial b&s recoil start

finally got all the adjustments correct---should be good to go for another 20 yrs

tilling done--waiting for the rain to come in tonite and tomorrow

    then the planting begins

i gotta do better this year--good peppers and a buncha green tomatoes last yr

    went way in the hole

gotta say--when ya get all the settings correct--it's a sweet machine----the drive belt control lever design is lacking in my opinion--but they have not changed much in the last 30 yrs

my other bitch is the price of small engine coils--just outta site

We have one here, I tried to use it a little last year and it was running poorly, probably the fuel system. And I was having to hold the lever to keep it going, probably needs a new belt. But then it quit running altogether so I didn't mess with it anymore. Now I have a Montgomery Wards walk behind with a non-running Clinton engine and some other one. I just got the freeby old orange walk behind but didn't get it home yet. No tiller attachments but the ones I already have both have cultivators and the MW has a front blade. The freeby has cultivator, plow and sickle bar mower.
JD, glad to see you are getting you dirt farmer poop in a group. Gardens are awesome, great therapy and the food is a bonus.

that lever holding sux---it's due to the belt, the pop over adjustment cam block & the spring--i modified my spring set up using 2 s hooks, a turnbuckle and a couple of big carb return springs--oh--and a hose clamp to hold the upper s hook on the lever arm

that belt is absolutely critical as there are no other adjustments for belt tension other than the lever

the belt change is relatively easy--he says after learning the hardway----remove the reverse disc from the pulley--wood block jamb or vise grips to hold pulley---then the belt will wiggle out--the clearances are tight, but she'll go---i buggered my reverse disc putting the new belt on--they have a complete kit--i had one in the box parts that came with this tiller

i'll scan the instructions later--have to get the printer out where i can access it

the rain has come--perfect amount--the birds are all over the tilled areas--got no clue about that--maybe worms??--idk
