Snagged a 65 Lesabre over in Montana the other day and was headed to the crusher with it. I checked the engine, not stuck...hgmmm.. Replace the 4 pug wires the rats had ate, put it on a jug with electric fuel pump it fires up, well after I filed the points. Tranny doesn't seem to respond, then I remember the back seat is full of empty oil bottles so I add 4 quarts and it goes into drive and revers on the trailer. woop-woop. So up the hill it goes, keep it here until I can pull the engine/tranny. Did some studying, its labeled as a 355 Wildcat (Buick used torque, not cubic inches) So its a high compression 300 with AFB 4 bbl, 250 hp. Same engine family as the earlier aluminum V8, the 340 and 350 buicks. The 4 barrel intake is one year only. Plus it has the switch pitch 400 tranny. Very cool and desirable I guess. Basically it has a stall speed of 2800 or 1800 controlled by electric switch on the throttle linkage.
Oh, and a cool tilt coulmn I'll snag too.
Now I'm kinda thinking that might be a cool assed engine for my 60 F-100 project.
