the family car, 1984 pontiac parisienne, 5.0 l, all the bells and whistles

i converted it to freeze 12 last year, worked fine up until she no longer needed it for the winter, now the compressor cycles on and off about every 15 seconds, according to the gauges, it should take a little, but it won't

i am guessing there was enough of the old oil left in the system, which i evacuated, to gel up with the new cold juice

in the short time the compressor will stay on, it is producing cold air--colder than the 60 degree ambient outdoor temp

someone take me to school here

a shop in Tejas put a new compressor on my 85 Suburban abd put in freeze 12. It wasn't worth a f**k.

I converted my 87 Bronco II to Freeze 12 and it worked ok
Pulled the comp. drained the old oil out reinstalled the comp
Flushed the system with R11 drained that, added oil, pulled a deep vacum and filled with freeze 12
Then it leaked out and I couldnt find anymore Freeze 12
So I just blew the rest of the Freeze 12 out pulled a vacum and filled it with 134A
That was over 10 years ago and it still cools good.
Its in South Dakota now so they don,t use the A/C as much as I did here
Heres an article that might help on conversions

    excellent link CJ

i am going to go with a new dryer & orifice thingy, new oil and 134a

today i had to put a window guide on the drivers door window. It's that little triangle shaped plastic hootus that clips(supposedly) to a hole in the upper back corner of the glass

eventually got it done, but it was a wrestling match for sure--didn't break even 1 of those plastic clips--couldn't hardly believe it

factory automotive trim is not one of my better skills--those dang little clips have a habit of pissing me off--i prefer to screw the stuff back on, using those button washers---or--just delete it entirely air conditioning--automotive 301330

JD see if you can find someone to put a shot of dye in it before you recharge. Even if you don't have a black light and have to borrow or rent one dye makes life a lot easier when finding small leaks.
