Nephew wants a 5 speed behind the 390 in his old F-350. I remember an article at Keith's diaper room but don't really want to go there. If anyone has a link or the info on what it takes, hook a bro up. thanks

Re: Need info
Wont the ZF tranny bolt up to the 390 bell housing and work?
Personally I dont think the Mazda 5 speed would hold up to the 390, plus it seems to be geared to high for a torque engine like the 390

No. the ZF never had an FE pattern, nor did the Mazda. I'm pretty sure the guys who've done it used the NV-4500 and it seems like they used the Dodge one from a gas engine model but that's all I remember. It must have used the original bell housing I'm thinking.

Re: Need info
I thought the ZF had the removable bell housing?
I know the Mazada one is integrated like an automatic.

Re: Need info
I was thinking one of those small version of a 3 way Brownie, much easier to install. I had a 63 IH one tone with one in it.
