Re: Wheat Harvest 2010
I haven't heard what wheat made around here, fields I saw looked great. We don't actually have much wheat right here, have to go 50 miles or so. I suppose the average is about like yours but I have heard of 80. Most of them buy crop insurance and pray for hail.

Re: Wheat Harvest 2010
Most people around here are the exact opposite of No-Till including us! A Lot of people here have their wheat certified organic so No-Till and chemicals are out of the question. Some people also tried a minimum till approach and there yields were lower (yet higher than no-till) so the good ol'e molboard plow is still king around here.
A LOT of people around here still grow a variety called Buckskin which has been proven time and time again to be lower yielding than about any other variety but yet everyone keeps growing it. We grow a variety called Pronghorn that does about 4BPA better but I'm trying to convince dad to grow a variety called Ripper which is about 10BPA on dry years (it doesn't like too much water).
We had crop insurance and if everyones average was around 40 this year that should be a good payday.
