Got to sail yesterday Empty Got to sail yesterday

Finally got to sail yesterday for about 30 min. then the wind died and I motored back in.
Got the boat put back in the slip and when I was driving away the wind picked back up.
Going to try it again today. 7-9 knots NNE from 12-3 at 54-60deg.
Looks like tonight the front comes in for the next two weeks.
Snow and ice pellets 70% chance and not above 40deg
I'm going to sail every month this year if I have to wear my camo bibs, coat and thermal boots Laughing

Well i sailed again yesterday for about 2 hours this time. Man it was great. 58deg. I think and about
6-8 knots. I guess I won't get to go out for at least 2 weeks with this cold snap hitting Texas.
Wish some of ya'll could have sailed with me. My best to everyone, Charles

The guy that taught me to sail used to call me up at night (like 11pm) and he'd be all jazzed because the wind was howling on Bellingham Bay, and he'd want to go sail! We had some awesome times out there....just the 3 of us... his cat would ride the bowsprit, howling all the while!
I sure had some great times out there, and miss it alot.

My last ex's brother is a wooden boat guy. He works on them for a living and usually lives aboard. I went out with him a few times but not on the big ocean, just around the Puget sound. It's kinda like mushing dogs, just whooshing along with no sound.
So what kind of sailboat is it?

    I have a 86 Hunter 23. I bought it July 13 2009. My Birthday present to myself
My x never wanted to do anything and I suppressed getting it for 25 years.
Then I read a passage that Said "Its not what you do that you will regret, its what you don't do"
I started looking for a boat right away and after sailing 20 something boats that were for sale I bought this one. Here is a link to my profile on Hunter Owners.com
Just click on the albums for pictures of it.
I wish everyne of you could go out sailing at least once with me

Yes, it is truly a wonderful experience. The last time I sailed was on my ex BIL's double mast. It was an old wooden boat built on the great lakes around 1950. A 48 footer about 9 foot on the beam. He could sail it himself but it was much easier with a mate. The first time I sailed he had an old surf boat converted to a sail boat. I slept aboard in 3 foot swells. I couldn't walk on land for a half a day after that. I was sitting on the can on shore and it was rocking so bad I about fell off.lol.

Nice! I was on mostly Pearsons...but a few wooden ones as well...one Blanchard that was built on Lake Union in the early 1900's... it was fun!
That's the one thing I do miss about Puget Sound...the water and the fun! They sail on Flathead lake here....but I haven't been on it. I've got a good friend that's always pestering me, and he's a wooden boat guy... maybe one of these days...

I love the Puget sound area, west side mostly. I knew a guy in Pt. Hadlock that was on Neil Youngs sailboat. It was a 1900s era wooden boat, maybe 65" long. Neil had them keep it ready and he would fly in once in a while. Pete got $750 a week to be on call and kept a regular day job. One year my BIL got hired when Neil sailed it to San Francisco for the 4th of July. It was a lot of fun all the way down, all business when they got into SF though.

Stopped by and checked the boat this afternoon
I try and check it at least once a week all winter
I went below and laid down for a min.
Just to be on it is great to me
I woke up an hour later and went home
Something about the movement on it just sitting in the slip knocks me out

Got my January sail in today, 10-14 knots, 54deg. winds NNE, several gusts to 20 I'd guess
I sailed single handed as I couldn't find a first mate
    Beat a Hunter 23.5, Hunter 22 and several Catalina's, 3-22's,2-25's, 2-27's and also beat a Catalina 30 which is a big deal
He was sailing hard so I can't figure that one out
Our lake had our Sunday Regatta which we have not had in 6-7 weeks.
I just jumped in the tail end of it but did surprising well
No idea why, won in "B" fleet as best as I could tell

my favorite part of sailing is the swilling of rum and chasing the bawdy wenches about the deck

I was out of rum but had several Vodka Tonics with lime
    For medicinal purposes you understand
It was too cold for my wench so I just chased the "A" Fleet boats
No chance of catching them but when did that ever stop us
Try some Captain Morgans Parrot Bay Coconut rum in your morning coffee
