My son's a/c has not worked in a month. Its kind of hard to help him with it when he's 70 miles away.
He came to town last night to go see his mom and me. He stopped by here and I looked at it.
We could'nt get the clutch to kick in so we checked 2 fuses to the clutch and they were good
Then we pulled and at looked at one relay and one diode. I don't know how to check those.
Pulled the power plug to the comp. and no voltage to the plug
Then I remembered if it was low on freon I had to jump the low pressure switch at the accumalater tank
I did that and we had 12v to the plug on the comp.
put the plug back on the comp and it would not engage even with power
While watching the center of the clutch to see if it had kicked in
I noticed what looked like metal powder or fine shavings
That confirmed it for me, the clutch is out and needs a new one
He still may have a freon leak but I could find no evidence of one. Of course it could have a leak at the evap. coil.
At least you don''t have to remove the freon lines from it to replace the clutch
remove the serp. belt unbolt the comp. and it has enough lines to stand it straight up to pull the clutch
I found 2 online last night for $200. Any one know how to beat that price? Thanks guys
