Gigs and heat Empty Gigs and heat

    Post by willowbilly3 Wed Jul 20, 2011 4:15 am

Busiest I've been in a long time, several gigs going. Last 2 days putting in a stock waterer and 100+ temps. The old man I'm doing it for has wasted at least a day of my time. I'm 16 hours and 4 trips into it and just got the pad poured yesterday. today I start moving 8 little round storage buildings for a campground, figure 2 days there, bid it at $600. 2 scrap iron deals here and also another big one I need to go look at. It is a ranch that is getting sold, lifetime collection of old cars and junk. It's about 120 miles from here.
I ain't been on a mower in 10 days and my driveway looks like some hillbilly's, junk everywhere and weeds 4 feet high. Lawnmowers that were dropped off 2 weeks ago I haven't got to, a jetski waiting on parts, ta da, ta da, life is good. Thinking about buying a new gun.

Hey JB, what should a 6hp Techumseh engine cost to rebuild?

Or should I just consider getting a new engine from somewhere?

Horizontal or vertical shaft? I've never rebuilt one, I get plenty of good vertical shaft ones for nearly free. so I just swap them out if they aren't running good. I think I have a couple good ones that just need carb work.

    Horizontal.

Its for my Big Mow Lawn mower.

The old girl is getting tired, I have a spare engine, but its about as worn out as the engine I have

I buy all sorts of engines for 25 or less at auctions most start right up or require very little tinkering....best deal ever was a big wisonsin for 5 bucks.

No horizontal ones here, kinda oddball. I do find a few Honda 5.5s horizontal and they will do the job. Look for old pressure washers that the pump froze up on. I got one for $20 and used that engine on my chipper, ditched the troublesome tecumseh. I did get that one on auction but i have kinda quit going to auctions, can't get a bargain on anything, dipwads pay more than new for crap.
I just changed over my big line trimmer from a 6.25 Tecumseh to a 5.5 Honda. I got for free on a trashed pressure washer.

Oh wait I think I need the vertical one.
Thats the one where the crank runs up and down and not side to side right?

I've got one that needs a carb. I'd throw it in a box and send it to ya.

It's a Tecumseh 6 horse lawnmower engine, not sure on the weight, I'd just send it if you give me your address. I don't want anything for it.
