From what I understand the old brass tanks were soldered on.
I tried to fix one once and all I did was make a big ole mess.
The newer shit has plastic tanks on em, so I dont know about them things

i have a crack where the neck comes out of the brass tank---gonna try solder first----dang rads have gone sky high--208 plus the ride-- new 3 row brass & copper from performance radiator
we have 1 rad shop here--they know they got ya--all the shops just buy new ones

You might be able to use brass up there. I think thats what the factory used.
